Teresa Barth Candidate for Encinitas City Council

I am a third-generation resident of the North Coast area. I grew up in Del Mar, except for a few years in Hilo, Hawaii where I attended high school. My husband, Don and I lived in Solana Beach before moving to Cardiff-by-the-Sea in 1994.

In 2003, I retired after working for 25 years at the Del Mar Fairgrounds/San Diego County Fair where I was the Exhibit and Education Supervisor.

I graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Los Angeles with a BA in Liberal Arts.

I became involved in community activities through a variety of groups including:

  • Cardiff Community Consensus Conference – Co-Chair 2001. Continue as an advocate for the implementation of the Cardiff Specific Plan
  • Cardiff Chamber of Commerce - Member since 1997. Board member since 1998
  • Cardiff 101 Dog Days of Summer - Co-chair 2006
  • San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy - member since 1994
  • Orinda Village Homeowner's Assoc. President 2005-2006
  • Volunteer at the Hansen/Machado Surf Classic past 5 years
  • City Housing Element Update Committee Member - 2005
  • Cardiff Town Council – Member since 1999
  • Friends of Cardiff Library – Member since 2000.  President 2005 & 2006
  • Established Friends Scholarship program in 2004
  • Member Encinitas Taxpayers Association - 2004
  • Greater San Diego Resource Conservation District – Associate Director 2004 Appointed Director 2005. Chair of the Education Committee
  • Fish & Wildlife Commission – appointed in 2005

Community service is a family tradition I am proud to continue. My father, Bill Arballo was active in the incorporation of Del Mar and was its third mayor. He was also active in the effort to stop the widening of Hwy 101 that would have destroyed the beach communities from Leucadia to Del Mar.
